We'll start where everyone loves to relax: the living room and bedroom. Now, picture your living room. What do you see first? Maybe a big, comfy sofa? Let's say it together—‘sofa’. That's where I love to curl up with a book. And right there, you might find an armchair. Armchair. If you're ever unsure, just remember, it's like a chair but with arms—honestly, that makes it super cozy for reading or watching TV, doesn't it?Right next to the sofa, you might see a table. For the living room, we often call it a ‘coffee table’, but ‘table’ works just fine for now. Then, in your bedroom, you’ll find a ‘bed’—easy one, that! And often beside the bed, there’s something called a ‘bedside table’. This is my favourite! For example, I always keep my favourite book on the bedside table—so I can read before sleep. Sometimes, there's a ‘wardrobe’ in the room. That’s where you hang your clothes. Wardrobe. Go on, say it aloud!Now, let's talk a bit about describing where these things are. We use simple words like ‘on’, ‘near’, or ‘next to’. For example, ‘The lamp is on the bedside table’, or ‘The wardrobe is next to the bed’. These prepositions help you explain exactly where things are in your home. Sometimes I laugh, because I say, ‘The cat is always on my bed, not next to it!’ But that's another story. Anyway—when you talk about your own room, give it a try: ‘The book is on the table’ or ‘The chair is near the window’. Makes it really easy, right?So, let's wander into the kitchen and the dining room now. You might notice some different furniture in these rooms. First, there's the ‘chair’. Simple to say, right? Chairs are usually around the dining table—that’s another important word. Dining table. That's where you have meals with your family or friends.In the kitchen, you’ll often see a ‘cupboard’. That’s where things are stored, like plates and cups. Say it with me—cupboard. Cupboard. You might also have a ‘shelf’ in the kitchen, up on the wall. Shelves are great for placing jars or spices. Now, one of my favourite memories as a child was sitting on the tall kitchen stool to help my mum bake cakes. I wasn’t much help, but I did love eating the cake batter. So—stool! It’s like a chair but usually taller and without a back.Now, let's practise making some sentences, shall we? You could say, ‘The chair is under the table’. Easy! Another one: ‘Cups are in the cupboard’. Or, ‘The shelf is above the sink’. Simple, real sentences you’d use every day. Don't worry if you mix them up—I’m always saying ‘on the cupboard’ when I mean ‘in the cupboard’. Just keep practising!Alright, now let’s practise using these words in real-life situations. Imagine you're talking to a friend and you ask, ‘Where is the lamp?’ And they answer, ‘The lamp is on the table’. You could try this at home: ask yourself, ‘Where is the chair?’ and answer, ‘The chair is under the table’. See? Little role-plays like this really help you remember and use the words.There are a few handy phrases you’ll hear a lot. For example, ‘There is a sofa in the living room’. Or, ‘The wardrobe is big and brown’. Try saying these about your own home.
